Skills training

Skills training for productivity improvement

The following training and development programs focus on critical skills that directly impact productivity. The programs can be run in-house in a timeframe that suits your business. They are customised so that case studies, role plays and discussions are relevant to your business and industry. Workshops can be conducted as a series of 2 hour workshops to suit your quietest time of day, half or full day courses.

  • Positive conflict management

–not all conflict is bad and in fact, when managed well, can challenge thinking and facilitate generation of new ideas. This workshop looks at what causes destructive and toxic conflict and how to convert differences of opinion into a positive win-win situation. Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on their own behaviours and learn techniques for achieving “positive conflict”.

  • Communication skills

–when to email; when to talk. This fun, interactive workshop looks at the common methods of communicating in business today and encourages discussion about when each one is appropriate, or not. Abbreviations and brevity in SMS and emails can cause confusion or be misinterpreted for rudeness; and the volume of e-communications can be unmanageable. A few basic protocols and guidelines about communicating effectively can avoid misunderstandings and improve workplace relationships.

  • Thinking differently to build resilience

-unfortunately retrenchments, rejections and knockbacks are common in today’s workplaces. For the individuals involved, the affects can be significant, resulting in reducing their self-confidence and ability to trust others. This can manifest itself in behaviours that impede collaboration and open exchange of ideas. This workshop provides techniques for looking at adversity differently in order to develop coping skills and build resilience.

  • Working collaboratively

    – This workshop is tailored to a specific Company, department or project. First Line Coaching will do a needs analysis to identify aspects of the current working arrangements that will improve collaboration if changed or fine-tuned. Elements from all the other programs will be combined. Ideally, this should be run as a series of workshops so that new skills and processes can be practiced between sessions

Excellent communication, collaboration and resilience are the foundations to a workforce united against the external competition, rather than fighting competition within.
